Nick Pilney, MA, LPCC
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

Therapist

Since his start in the therapy field, Nick has utilized and employed solution-focused skill building while also encouraging clients to find their own unique strengths. His passion for therapy has been fueled by the realization that no two people ever experience mental distress in exactly the same way. What works for one person may not work for another.

Because of this, Nick takes an eclectic approach while in session, blending different skills and approaches (among them existential therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused and strengths-based skill building) that are tailored to the person sitting across from him. He loves incorporating humor and authenticity into the counselor-client relationship.

While he has experience across a diverse range of issues, Nick especially enjoys working with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, stress management, anger management, grief and loss, relationship issues and workplace issues. He works primarily with adolescents, adults and couples.

In his free time, you'll likely find Nick chasing after his son around the house, and spending time with his family and friends. He loves being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. If he's not doing any of those things, he's probably watching college football, and he's extremely passionate about his Iowa State Cyclones!
